Lancashire Night 2026
Another fantastic Lancashire night at Warton Cricket Club. It was lovely to see everyone again after the break, some new faces and some returning to us after the new year, which is always fabulous.
Bernard was, naturally, his fantastic self, singing Lancashire tunes and getting us all involved in a good old singalong. We were thoroughly entertained all evening, many thanks to Bernard not only for the entertainment but also for stewarding the meet.
The Lancashire-themed supper went down remarkably well. On the menu were Lancashire hotpot, butter pie and mushy peas, followed by parkin, Chorley cakes and a selection of Lancashire cheeses. I genuinely thought I had made far too much, but I’m not sure you wouldn’t have eaten more if it had been there! I’m very glad it was enjoyed.
A few thank-yous are definitely in order. Thanks to Paul for running the quiz and the raffle, and congratulations to the winners of the Lancashire-themed quiz; the Nelda Elders, who took home their well-earned prize of jelly babies!
Many thanks as well to Laura and Ste for helping with the food, to Eddie who bravely took on the role of mushy pea maker, and to our willing potato peelers. And of course, thanks to everyone who mucked in, washed up, helped serve, and generally made the evening run so smoothly.
We also thoroughly appreciated the generous contributions to the raffle.
All in all, a lovely evening celebrating a bit of Lancashire spirit with good company, good food, plenty of laughter and a good singalong.
