Easter at Hazelslack 2026 – Meets Storm Dave!
Easter at Hazelslack 2026 will certainly be one to remember… thanks to Storm Dave!
We’ve only been coming for a few years compared to many, but I can only recall one Easter that was wetter or muddier than this one. At times, parts of the field were challenging, and we saw a few units needing assistance getting on and off, but as always, the NELDA spirit shone through.
A huge thank you to Keith and Lynne for stewarding and for all their help throughout the weekend, it really didn’t go unnoticed.
Despite the conditions, the mornings were actually the worst of the weather, with plenty of rain to contend with. Thankfully, things often improved into the afternoons, allowing folk to enjoy the beautiful location.
Unfortunately, Storm Dave did his worst on Saturday night, and we lost at least one awning along with one of our event shelters.
A big thank you to everyone who bought raffle tickets, your support will go a long way towards repairing or replacing the damaged shelter.
🎨 Superheroes Picture Quiz
The winners of this year’s Superheroes Picture Quiz were the Hopkins family, with some absolutely fantastic artwork… and some not quite so fantastic, but the effort is appreciated!
🐎 Horseshoe Throwing
With no children around initially for the egg hunt, we moved on to the ever-popular horseshoe throwing competition.
In a surprise turn of events, last-minute entrant Ste made it to the final, facing off against our chairman Paul H. With previous title holder Keith handing over the trophy, it was Paul H who took home the win and the much sought-after prize.
🥚 Egg Throwing Competitions
After lunch; and with the welcome arrival of some children, the egg throwing competitions got underway.
Children’s winners: Elijah and David
Adult winners: (you guessed it!) Paul and Deb
🏆 Other Awards
Junior Wellie Throw Winner: Elijah
NELDAs Biggest Tosser Award: Tom
Best Wanger Award: Deb
Final Thanks
Thank you again to everyone who helped make the weekend happen, despite the weather, it was another fantastic Easter at Hazelslack.
We’re already looking forward to seeing you all again next year!
